Porn Problems

Tonight, I went to a local church meeting with a group of men on the topic of porn. As much as I was horrified at the statistics shared by one Christian speaker — about 50% of Christian men struggle with porn use — I personally found it really encouraging that a bunch of guys of all ages were able to sit around in one room and think about this topic in a mature fashion together as men.

I think this topic should be thought about more in a small group manner. For some Christians, porn use is a private and internal struggle they battle with alone. They feel (and are often right) that they have no means of talking with others about their problem for fear of being judged and humiliated. Truth is, many (not all) Christian men just aren’t as close to their minister as to a close mate. But I think it would be massively helpful for many Christians if we could come together and talk and pray about it.

I know it would be helpful for me!

Scripture says, “He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper,
But he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion.” (Prov. 28:13).

So Christian men should talk about these things. I would help us to spur each other on to love and good works, and it will provide comfort and rest for those of us who are weary with the war against habitual lust.

  1. Many men struggle with this issue. We need more men who are willing to confront the role of porn in their lives. I hope you blog more about this important issue.
